New Blood Rising At Bloodstock

bloodstock

With the biggest independent metal festival in the UK just around the corner, Bloodstock Open Air Festival is looking to be a parade of carnage indeed. With fantastic bands from all over coming to pledge their sound and to add their name to the banner, thousands of fans come to join them with headliners such as Amon Amarth, Ghost and Megadeth leading the crusade.

But in the midst of the chaos there are new forces rising….

Metal 2 The Masses is an annual competition hosted by Bloodstock Festival, which scours the far corners of the kingdom and beyond its borders, to find the hottest up and coming bands in the metal scene. The victors from each heat form the line up for the fittingly named ‘New Blood Stage’.

This blog will showcase a few of the many who are definitely worth a watch in what will be a memorable weekend.

1. Thuum

Hailing from the seaside town of Bournemouth in Dorset is the small but quickly rising Thuum. Like the dragon’s shout, their groove metal riffs will have you begging for more as they quickly rise from the ranks to becoming a legendary band, with a sound that will resonate through the ages.

In The East Midlands you’ll find the county of Derbyshire, look a little deeper and you’ll find the Grindcore group Raised By Owls. With a ‘whats work?’ attitude and a party-hard style, they’ll definitely get you jumping. As for song titles such as “Chuckle Vision Is Just Drug Slang” and “Practising Black Magic With Bruce Forsyth”, you just know it will be a gig to remember.

Portsmouth is home to many things worth seeing… but now its time to put Seething Akira on that list as there electronic rock has put them on the map (and in your face). They undoubtedly put on a unique show for those lucky enough to witness.

At every festival you need at least one band to remind you of that old school rock n roll sound we all know and love so much.  Switchblade City can offer that to you with awesome vocals and stage presence that will blow your mind – it is one hell of a performance.

First making their presence known in 2012, Seek Solace In Ruin are here to knock your teeth out with their ferocity infused riffs, drawing from bands such as Chimera and Fear Factory. Be ready to step inside their madness.

As we journey through the dark forests of the Midlands, there emerges the black metal band called Heathen Deity. Originally forming in 1998, they later went into slumber (hiatus) in 2004. However, with their soul wrenching sound and their dark incantations they now return. You know their name, so heed my words.

Like the name suggest these gargantuan thrashers, hailing from Scotland, are ready to crash through the weekend with heavy riffs and their southern-metal driven vocals. Titan Breed overall draws elements from many different genres, promising something for everyone who wishes to seek it.

The best thing about this however, is this is only a snapshot of the many fantastic artists on just one stage. Each and every one of the bands you will see at Bloodstock has earned the right to be there through blood, sweat and beers!
