These Wicked Rivers are Derby’s entry to the new wave of rock and roll that is sweeping across the United Kingdom.

Formed in February 2014 and taking to the stage in October of the same year, the Derby quartet has impressed all and sundry since their inception with their brand of modern rock, influenced by (amongst others) Black Stone Cherry and Clutch.

These Wicked Rivers consists of John Hartwell as Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar who is supported by Arran Day on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals, Jon Hallam providing Bass and last but not least Dan Southall on the Drums

From their latest EP ‘II’ comes ‘Testify’. Watch the music video below.

The band received many positive reviews following the release of their debut E.P “The Enemy” in July 2015 and the EP landed them slots at Butlins Live Music Weekenders in January 2016 and at YNot Festival in the summer of 2016.

Their next release “II”, which arrived in April 2017, included seven tracks that highlighted just how far they have come in the near two years since their first release. They had found their sound.

Recorded with Ben Gaines at Artifex Studios in Derby, “II” represented a more polished sound, with bigger songs and a more mature vibe. They released a single, “Testify”, which got airplay from Planet Rock’s Wyatt Wendels on his Rock Show and came with a video documenting exactly what they had been up to over the summer of 2017.

As a band that constantly writes new music, it didn’t take long for them to be ready to head to the studio again and they did so in August 2017 to record a new 2 track release.  “Should’ve Known Better” would be the single, along with its A-Side partner “Foolin’ Mankind”. The two tracks, recorded with Jay Dean at Dubrek Studios in Derby, still highlight their now trademark sound, but the production has more of a “Real” feel to it.

The 2 track release will make an appearance in mid-November, in both digital and physical formats, just in time for their appearance at Planet Rocks Planet Rockstock in the first week of December.

Let’s see what These Wicked River’s has to say about Vocalzone.

“Throughout the final months of 2017, Vocalzone has been helping us through our shows, enabling us to keep gigging whilst looking after our voices.”
