Paul Stuart Davies is a man trying to usher in a new golden age of Northern Soul.
Paul Stuart Davies was born in Manchester in 1982 and began performing professionally in his teens when a local agent took him on and gave him work at pubs and clubs across Lancashire. This lead to music college and the beginning of a successful career as a vocal coach. Paul’s love of Motown (the music of Marvin Gaye in particular) lead to fronting 9-piece band ‘The SoulTrain’ and performing at iconic soul venues such as Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Blackburn’s King George’s Hall.
In 2015 Paul decided to take on a performance career outside of the band and, following an endorsement from Janis Gaye (Marvin’s wife), landed himself a spot at ‘The World’s Biggest Northern Soul Weekender’ at Butlins Skegness where he performed alongside Motown greats Kim Weston, Brenda Holloway, The Velvelettes and The Contours.
this is just one of many example of how Paul is Keeping northern soul alive in his track ‘Tomorrows Love’.
Paul impressed organiser Russ Winstanley enough to be invited to perform regularly at his events. As a result, Paul has since worked with Tobi Legend, Dean Parrish, P.P. Arnold, Eddie Holman, Tommy Hunt, Sidney Barnes, Chris Clark, Pat Lewis, Geno Washington, The Flirtations and more.
Having become close friends with many of these Northern Soul legends, Paul put together a charity recording, under the name ‘Northern Soul Survivors’, and along with Chris Clark, Tommy Hunt, Sidney Barnes, Pat Lewis, Dean Parrish, Johnny Boy and The Signatures, released a new version of the iconic ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’.
Not only a man to get you on your feet but he also has the abilty to settle you down and heard in the track ‘Time Will Pass You By’
Paul proved that this wouldn’t be the last time that he would share a studio with legends when in May 2017, he visited Detroit to record his own song ‘Tomorrow’s Love’ at the world famous United Sound Systems recording studio with backing vocals provided by none other than Tobi Legend, Kim Weston, Pat Lewis and The Original Vandellas. Before the year was out, Paul returned to Detroit and recorded two more original songs: ‘Baby, It’s Yours’, with backing vocals by The Fantastic Four, and it’s b-side: ‘That’s The Truth’.
Paul is currently promoting vinyl releases of his Detroit recordings and is due to appear for the fourth successive year at the ‘Northern Soul Survivors’ weekender in September 2018 alongside yet more Northern Soul legends.
