MY/BITTER/HALF – Post-Doom/Hardcore from London
Formed in August 2016 by vocalists William Alex Young and Megan Elliott, UK’s My/Bitter/Half is the result of ravenous hardcore meeting the bleak tones of doom and sludge. Completing the line-up is ex-Doomed From Day One bassist Eifion Sweet, guitarist Kieran Harper, newly recruited guitarist Simon Mather (ex-The Colour Pink Is Gay) and drummer, Devin Osman.
The band bring influences from bands like While She Sleeps to Oathbreaker as well as elements of progressive and post metal to the overall package. With experience in technical and progressive metal as well as death metal and post-hardcore, the band bring a depressive, but aggressive voice to a slowly decaying world.
From their latest album ‘Hell/I Hate’ comes only ‘Decay’
Not ones to shy away from a DIY approach, the band have spent the last year practicing relentlessly, playing as many shows as possible and trying to find their feet in amongst a vastly over-populated music scene. Having experimented massively with different elements of hardcore and metal on their debut EP ‘Hell/I Hate’ (released July 2017), and with the addition of new guitarist Simon Mather, the band have now tapped into a sound that is very much unique to them. With a clear path now in front of them, My/Bitter/Half have nearly completed the writing process for their debut album (set for release late 2018) and will soon begin the recording process.
Heres the Groundchuring track ‘Bleak’
Having already supported acts such as Regarde Les Hommes Tomber, Conjurer and Goblins as well as an appearance at UK TechFest 2017 with intense and chaotic sets the band are quickly earning their place in the UK’s heavy scenes and have plans in place to tour next year.
