Flawes, a name that is appropriate as they are a band that is flawless!
Having spent 3 ½ years as a session musician and backing vocalist for artists such as Ella Eyre and performing on main stages at festivals and arenas across the world (Glastonbury, V Festival, The Isle Of Wight Festival, Red Festival Dubai, BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, Alan Cars Chatty Man etc) Joshua Carruthers set up his own band FLAWES with childhood friend Josh (Huss) Hussey and guitarist Freddie Edwards to start on a project that reflected their own musical ambitions.
Speaking of ambitions, Flawes have just released a brand new single ‘Ghost Town’ featuring Rozes which is a perfect example of their unique take on Alternative Pop.
Their debut single ‘Don’t Wait For Me’ was picked up as BBC Introducing’s Record of the Week on BBC Radio 1, came in at number 8 on the Spotify viral chart and received support from The Sunday Times, Clash magazine, Line of Best Fit amongst many others.

This lead FLAWES to sign a record deal with Red Bull Records. Then when perfectly poised, with multiple sold out London shows and support slots under their belt, FLAWES returned in 2017 with tracks ‘Forever’, ‘Blank Dice’ and ‘This Could Be Real’. These releases gained support from Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Alternative Press, Shazam and the band also performed successful sets at Reeperbahn Festival, The Great Escape and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festivals amongst others.
2018 will see the band release their eagerly anticipated debut album.
Let’s see what Joshua Carruthers has to say about Vocalzone!
“I have used vocal zone for as long as I remember, first of all being introduced by my singing teacher aged 14. I now religiously take one before every show we play with FLAWES”
